This very unique "UPGRADED" Hutchins Brian Jones limited edition guitar was commissioned and developed in conjunction with the Brian Jones Trust.
"Sex, Drugs, and Rock 'N Roll" was the mantra of the 60's, and also that of the late Brian Jones. It seems so fitting that the guitar played by Brian during his tenure with The Rolling Stones was shaped like a tear... sadly reflecting the life he lived, before and after his international fame. There is no more iconic image from the 1960's than that of Brian Jones performing on stage with his unique Vox Teardrop guitar. In the minds of many, this image personified what Brian represented - the Ultimate Musician.
This Hutchins Brian Jones model is based on Brian's Vox Mark VI and is an exact replica meeting all of Brian's original Vox modifications and specifications. Brian's customized specifications included having the headstock and neck finished in a Vintage White making his instrument unique only to him. Other modifications he insisted on were: two single pickups with the bridge pickup mounted next to the early Fender Stratocaster bridge using pressed steel bridge saddles, a tone and volume knob and a three-way Fender-type pickup selector switch. He also changed the black scratch plate, preferring a chromed finish.
The Brian Jones "Tear-Drop" guitar maintains not only that vintage look but is coupled with a ton of high-end custom guitar upgrades. The enhancements to this particular Hutchins Brian Jones model are 2 "Very Hot" 12.5k ohms single coil Neck & Bridge pickups, CRL Switch, CTS 250k Audio Pots, Gotoh Tuners, Switchcraft Jack and topped-off with a real Bone Nut. Adding to the rarity of it all, only 250 of these specially built guitars were produced.
